About NewsPrisma
NewsPrisma is an independent news aggregator. Its goal is simple: to show, in one place and in your language, how the world's major newspapers and broadcasters are covering the news right now. Like light through a prism, a single event looks different depending on who tells it; comparing several sources helps you get a fuller picture.
How it works
Our system reads the public RSS and Atom feeds that newspapers themselves publish so that other sites can link to their articles. It checks front pages every 5 minutes and sections every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. When several outlets publish articles about the same event, an algorithm compares the keywords in their headlines and groups them into a single story. The more outlets cover a story and the more recent it is, the higher it appears in "Top stories".
What we publish
For each article we only show the headline, the short excerpt the newspaper itself includes in its feed, the time of publication and a link to the original article. We do not copy full articles or images. To read the complete story you always go to the newspaper's website, which receives the visit.
Editions and translation
NewsPrisma has five editions — English, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German — each one built from newspapers that publish in that language. With the translate button you can read headlines in more than 30 languages: translation happens in your browser, using its built-in translator when available or a free translation service. You can also open any article already translated.
Neutrality
We do not write, edit or rank news by opinion. The order of stories depends only on how many outlets cover them and how recent they are. We include public broadcasters and private newspapers from different countries and editorial lines.
Data retention
Stories are kept for 10 days and then deleted automatically.
Who is behind it
NewsPrisma is run by Fernando Suárez. For questions, suggestions or to request that a source be added or removed, write to [email protected].
